It is therefore safer to interrupt any treatment you may have started when you find out you are pregnant. It is possible to continue or start treatment after delivery or about 4 months after weaning.
In addition, hair growth is mainly stimulated by hormones. During pregnancy, the hormone levels of the expectant mother are subject to very strong fluctuations. It can therefore happen that hair grows in places where there was actually no hair before. As a result, any attempt to remove the hair may prove unsuccessful. 2. sun tanning and artificial tanning (solarium)

It is important not to confuse naturally dark skin with tanned skin. Laser hair removal works equally well on tanned and even black skin, as the laser devices, especially the current generation of Nd:YAG lasers, focus less on the melanin in the skin. Natural pigmentation is therefore not a contraindication. The situation is different with tanning, which is one of the few major contraindications for the treatment.
Tanning, whether caused by the sun, spray tans or moisturizers, puts the melanin in the skin in an unnatural state. This can not only affect the treatment and increase the risk of burns, but can also lead to other photodamage such as hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation on the treated skin. For this reason, it is advisable to avoid strong sunlight and solarium lighting on the skin areas to be treated for approx. 14 days before and after a laser treatment.
3. waxing and other hair removal methods

Laser hair removal requires an intact hair root as the target for successful treatment. The hair root is the connection between the hair and the hair follicle that enables the energy to travel from the hair to the hair follicle. During waxing, sugaring and plucking, the hair and its roots are almost completely removed from the hair shaft. This means that there is nothing left for the laser beam to attack.
You must therefore not use any of the hair removal methods mentioned for at least 4 weeks before the first treatment to ensure that all hair has completely grown back during the laser treatment. Of course, you must also refrain from using any hair removal methods during the entire hair removal therapy or between the individual treatments.
4. diabetes type 1 + type 2

Treatment is not recommended for patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. These conditions often lead to reduced sensitivity to pain, meaning that pain or overheating during treatment may not be noticed in time. Diabetes also impairs wound healing, which increases the risk of infection and scarring. Diabetic vascular disease can disrupt blood circulation, making the skin more susceptible to injury and slowing healing.
Type 3 and type 4 diabetes do not have similar limitations. Type 3 diabetes is usually insulin resistant and is caused by other diseases or medications, but does not have the extreme effects on skin healing and blood vessels as type 1 and type 2. Type 4 diabetes typically occurs in older adults and is usually less severe. These forms of diabetes do not usually affect pain sensitivity or wound healing to the extent that laser treatment would be risky.
5. light-sensitizing medication

Some medications, including St. John’s wort, can significantly increase the skin’s sensitivity to light, which makes treatment risky. The increased sensitivity to light caused by these drugs can lead to serious skin reactions, including burns, blistering and pigmentation disorders. This not only makes the treatment more painful, but also less effective and prolongs the healing time of the skin.
It is therefore important to stop taking such medication before the laser treatment. As a rule, we recommend a waiting period of at least two weeks after discontinuing the medication to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the treatment. Clients taking antibiotics must wait at least 7 days after their last dose before starting laser hair removal. Many antibiotics increase the skin’s sensitivity to light, which increases the risk of burns, blistering and hyperpigmentation during laser treatment.
This waiting period gives the skin the necessary time to regain its normal sensitivity and minimizes the risk of skin irritation and side effects. Such a break is crucial to ensure safe and effective treatment. During this time, the skin can recover from the possible effects of the antibiotics, which reduces the likelihood of the skin reacting negatively to the laser light.
7. skin cancer / cancer in active phase

The treatment is not suitable for people with skin cancer or cancer in an active phase, as the laser beam could irritate the tumor tissue and worsen the condition. In addition, the skin may be weakened by illness and treatments such as chemotherapy or radiation, which increases the risk of skin damage.
Treatment is possible if the chemotherapy or cure is at least one year old, but the area where the cancer occurred must not be treated. Laser hair removal is not suitable in the presence of varicose veins (varicosis) and after vein surgery on the affected areas.
