Acetyl tetrapeptide-3 is a biotechnologically produced peptide that is used in cosmetic hair care – especially in hair growth products and serums against hair loss. It is a synthetic chain structure consisting of four amino acids that is stabilized by acetylation.
In combination with other active ingredients such as red clover extract, acetyl tetrapeptide-3 is used to strengthen the hair follicles and prolong the anagen phase (active growth phase) of the hair. According to studies, it can improve the anchoring of the hair in the dermis and regulate anti-inflammatory processes that play a role in hormonal or genetic hair loss.
It is one of the so-called signal peptides that promote communication between cells and can thus initiate regenerative processes in the hair follicle environment. Due to its targeted effect, acetyl tetrapeptide-3 is considered an effective anti-hair loss ingredient in modern formulations.
