The thread technique, also known as threading, is a traditional method of hair removal that originated in the Middle East and Asia. This technique uses a thin, twisted cotton or silk thread that is pulled across the surface of the skin to capture and remove unwanted hair at the root. The thread is manipulated to form a loop that catches hair as it glides over the skin and pulls it out of the hair follicle quickly and efficiently.
Threading is particularly popular for shaping and grooming the eyebrows as it allows for high precision, but it can also be used for other areas of the face such as the upper lip, chin and cheeks. Compared to other hair removal methods such as waxing or plucking, threading offers several advantages: It’s less painful as it doesn’t irritate the skin as much, and it doesn’t leave a sticky residue. It is also a quick and effective method that can remove even very short hairs without stressing the skin or using chemicals.
Another benefit of threading is that it is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin that may react negatively to chemical depilatory products or the heat of the wax. As this method does not use heat or chemicals, there is less risk of skin irritation and allergic reactions, making it a safe and gentle option for hair removal.
