involutional alopecia is a natural form of hair loss associated with the ageing process. It occurs gradually and leads to an increasing thinning of the hair as more hair follicles move from the anagen phase (growth phase) to the telogen phase (resting phase). The main cause is natural ageing, aided by genetic factors, hormonal changes and general health conditions.
Symptoms include a uniform thinning of hair over the entire scalp with no clearly defined bald patches. There is no specific cure, but treatments aim to slow down hair loss and promote the health of the remaining hair.
This can be achieved through a healthy diet, suitable hair care products and, in some cases, drug treatments or hair transplants. Complete prevention is not possible, but a healthy lifestyle can slow down the process and support hair health.
