Plucking is a method of hair removal in which individual hairs or small groups of hairs are removed directly at the root of the hair using tweezers or a similar tool. This technique allows very precise control over the hair to be removed, which makes it particularly suitable for shaping eyebrows or removing isolated, unwanted hair on the face or body.
When plucking, the hair is gripped firmly with the tweezers and then quickly pulled out of the skin in the direction of growth. This process removes the hair including the root, resulting in longer lasting hairlessness in the treated area compared to methods that only remove the hair above the surface of the skin, such as cutting or shaving. One advantage of plucking is that it requires no special chemical products or electrical equipment, making it a simple and cost-effective option for hair removal.
However, plucking can lead to redness, swelling or ingrown hairs, especially on sensitive skin. It is recommended to clean and disinfect the skin before and after plucking to minimize the risk of infection. Although it can be a little painful, especially in sensitive areas, many people choose this method for minor corrections as it gives precise results and the hair can grow back thinner over time.
