Thermolysis, in the context of hair removal, refers to an electrical epilation procedure that uses heat energy to destroy hair follicles in a targeted manner and thus permanently reduce or eliminate hair growth. This is achieved by inserting a very thin wire or needle into the hair follicle. A high-frequency electric current is then passed through this wire, which generates heat in the area of the hair follicle.
The heat generated causes localized destruction of the hair follicle, particularly the cells responsible for hair growth. This prevents or significantly slows down the subsequent growth of hair from this follicle. Thermolysis can be applied to almost all hair and skin types and offers a permanent solution to unwanted hair growth. The procedure is often performed in cosmetic clinics and by dermatologists, although the effectiveness and duration of treatments required may vary depending on individual circumstances.
