Trichoscopy is an advanced, non-invasive diagnostic method developed specifically for the examination and evaluation of hair and scalp disorders. A dermatoscope or video dermatoscope is used to view the scalp and hair follicles with high magnification. This magnification enables a detailed analysis of the hair structure, hair growth and the condition of the scalp without the need for a biopsy or other invasive procedures.
This technique is particularly valuable in the diagnosis of various types of hair loss, such as androgenetic alopecia, alopecia areata or telogen effluvium. It also enables the detection and differentiation of scalp diseases such as psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis or fungal infections.
Another advantage of trichoscopy is the ability to precisely monitor the progress of treatments. Repeated examinations can document changes in hair and scalp health and make treatment successes visible.
Trichoscopy is characterized by its speed and painlessness. As no surgical intervention is necessary, the method is comfortable and risk-free for the patient. In addition, the results are available immediately, which enables faster and more precise decision-making with regard to further treatment.
