UV light

UV light, part of the electromagnetic spectrum, is invisible to the human eye and consists of UV-A, UV-B and UV-C radiation with different wavelengths. UV-A penetrates deep into the skin and causes premature skin ageing and increases the risk of skin cancer. UV-B is mainly responsible for sunburn and also increases the risk of skin cancer. UV-C is absorbed by the ozone layer and does not normally play a role in natural exposure. UV light has positive effects, such as the formation of vitamin D, but also negative effects, such as skin ageing and skin cancer. Protective measures such as sunscreen and protective clothing are important to avoid overexposure.
