Premature alopecia (alopecia prematura)

Premature alopecia, also known as alopecia prematura, describes premature hair loss that occurs well before the usual age of natural hair loss. Men are often affected between the ages of 18 and 30, but women can also suffer from it at a young age.

The causes of this form of alopecia are usually genetic predisposition(androgenetic alopecia), hormonal imbalances, stress, nutrient deficiencies or autoimmune diseases. A hypersensitivity of the hair follicles to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) has a particularly critical effect, leading to a gradual miniaturization of the hair.

Premature alopecia typically manifests itself as a receding hairline, receding hairline corners or thinning areas on the crown of the head. Early diagnosis and targeted treatment – e.g. with hair growth-promoting active ingredients, low-level laser therapy or micronutrient-rich care products – can help to slow down the process and revitalize the hair follicles.

In the cosmetic practice, special emphasis is placed on preventive care and treatment tailored to the scalp in order to counteract progressive hair loss at an early stage.
