SHR laser hair removal in Berlin

SHR laser hair removal in Berlin

Laser ONE Institute for Permanent Hair Removal in Berlin – works on a medical level with the most modern laser and electro/needle epilation (electrolysis) technologies: such as the revolutionary diode laser system “Soprano ICE” from Alma Lasers, Alexandrite & YAG laser “GentleLase Pro” from Candela, as well as the world’s most effective electro/needle epilation device“xCell” from Apilus.

All the devices we use are CE and FDA certified, manufactured in the USA, Canada & Israel and are currently the most modern and effective laser systems for permanent hair removal in the world.

Awarded as winner in the category “Best laser device for hair removal” at the “Aesthetic Industry Awards” and “Most Innovative Laser Treatment” at the “MyFaceMyBody Awards”, “Soprano ICE“, for example, has proven to be the most powerful and effective laser device on the market.

Our devices for hair removal

Complex problem - complex solutions

We don’t want to tell you that permanent hair removal is a simple matter that can be solved easily and quickly with “a few treatments”.

No, we have gained enough experience with it through countless treatments and know very well that it is a complex problem or task that requires an even more complex solution.

We focus on structured solutions and individual treatment procedures, in which several hair removal devices are combined and used as required

Different skin and hair types - Different lasers

For example, the laser type and wavelength that is ideal for removing darker hairs will hardly be successful on lighter hairs.

Skin color also plays a very important role: for example, the alexandrite laser, which shows wonderful results on lighter skin types, will not work on darker skin and can even lead to burns in the worst case.

Application of various methods during your therapy

Or another example: the hair often changes during the hair removal therapy – e.g. the hair that was dark and spiky at the beginning becomes much weaker and thinner after 4-5 treatments with the appropriate diode laser and changes its color to light/blonde – in this case, continuing to work with the diode laser does not bring any success.

It is then better to switch from the diode laser to the alexandrite laser or even to treatment with electrolysis needle epilation in order to successfully remove the hair.

The special thing about our laser hair removal devices

The special thing about our institute is the unique technical equipment and the particular specialization in permanent laser hair removal. The equipment we use enables successful treatment for all skin and hair types!

Our various laser configurations differ in several wavelengths: Alexandrite lasers, diode lasers and YAG lasers have been specially developed for a specific skin and hair type and can effectively and permanently remove hair from light blonde to jet black.

What used to be almost unimaginable - for example, the permanent removal of lighter and thinner hairs, even downy hairs - can be successfully solved at the Laser ONE Institute with our laser and needle epilation devices.

Advantages of laser hair removal

Laser hair removal works by targeting the dark pigment of the hair directly at the root and destroying it on contact. After a short time, the session is over and you’re one step closer to the smooth, beautiful skin you’ve always dreamed of.

There is little to no downtime, which means you can complete the treatment in your lunch break and get back to your daily rhythm straight away.

The treated hair will begin to fall out over the course of the sessions, generally in 2 to 3 weeks after a treatment. It will take a number of sessions to completely remove the hair, but you will see the results in the first few treatments themselves. As the treatment progresses, you will notice less and less hair returning.

If you want to experience the highest level of hair reduction permanently, it is important to have regular sessions and complete the entire treatment series.

How does laser hair removal work?

The outstanding features of our laser hair removal devices “Soprano ICE”, “Soprano ICE Platinum” and “GentleLase PRO”, which we use at Laser ONE Institut in Berlin, enable shorter and more effective treatments for permanent laser hair removal.

The process: The hair contains pigments (melanin). During permanent hair removal, the laser light is absorbed by pigments in the hair and then converted into heat. In the skin tissue, the temperature of the focused laser beam reaches approx. 68° Celsius. The resulting heat permanently destroys the proteins in the hair cells and thus the hair follicles. No more hair can grow back.

The comfortable contact cooling of the Soprano ICE (down to minus 16 degrees Celsius) and the DCD cryogenic (liquid nitrogen) spray cooling of the GentleLase Pro ensure a painless treatment. The upper layers of the skin are effectively cooled and surrounding areas are protected, so the energy only works in the deeper layers of the skin where the hair roots are located.

Before & after treatment - what to look out for?

What needs to be considered AFTER the treatment?

Avoid the sun!
Please avoid strong sunlight on the skin areas to be treated up to 14 days before your laser treatment and refrain from going to the solarium.

No more hair removal!
The hair must not be removed by waxing, sugaring or plucking for at least 4 weeks before the 1st treatment, because the hair roots are completely pulled out and are no longer "vulnerable" to the laser beam.

Shave beforehand!
For your own treatment comfort and so that the laser energy can penetrate the hair follicle better, please always shave the hair on the areas to be treated 1-2 days before the treatment with a normal hand razor.

Pay attention to your own hygiene!
So that your practitioner can also feel completely at ease, please pay attention to your hygiene and always appear clean and well-groomed for your treatment appointments.

What needs to be considered AFTER the treatment?

No waxing, no sugaring!
After the treatment and generally during the complete laser hair removal therapy, the hair must not be removed by waxing, sugaring or plucking!

Shave normally!
Between treatments, the hair may only be shaved or trimmed as normal. However, this should be avoided for the first 48 hours after treatment to prevent skin irritation and other unwanted skin reactions.

Avoid sun & heat!
After treatment, the skin should not be exposed to direct sunlight for approx. 14 days in order to avoid possible hyper- or hypopigmentation. Visits to the sauna should also be avoided.

The right care
If your skin feels tight or dry, we recommend placing cooling pads on the areas or applying a soothing cream (e.g. aloe vera).

IPL vs. laser - and what is the difference?

The desire for permanently hair-free and smooth skin is currently increasing in our society like never before!

There is also growing uncertainty due to the wide range of services on offer in this area. If you look into the subject, you quickly realize that almost every beauty salon offers “permanent hair removal” among other beauty services. On closer inspection, 95% of these are IPL hair removal procedures. An IPL (flash lamp) treatment is usually significantly cheaper than a permanent laser treatment.

IPL (flash lamp)

At this point, customers are certainly asking themselves: what exactly is the difference between these two methods and what should they ultimately choose? The first thing to clarify here is the difference between the laser and IPL hair removal device. The IPL devices (flash lamps) work with a broad, less concentrated light spectrum (420-1200nm (nm=nanometer)).

The light from IPL devices can never reach the hair in such a targeted manner as it is less focused. With IPL hair removal, the energy is not only emitted on the relevant hair follicle, but also unnecessarily on the surrounding skin, which means that the treatment takes longer and is less efficient.

Price: A compact “desktop IPL device” starting at 500 euros on the Internet.

Diode / alexandrite laser

The diode laser works with a single wavelength (755/820/1064 nm).

So what does that mean? During laser treatment, the laser beam can penetrate much deeper and more focused into the hair follicle and thus permanently destroy the hair roots.

Price: A good laser device costs from 55,000 euros.

As is so often the case: Quality, safety and effectiveness cost money.

Hair removal in the intimate area

Every woman knows this feeling! There are hardly any parts of the body that are more difficult to depilate than the bikini area. Having to bend down at impossible angles, not being able to remove ingrown hairs and having to constantly irritate the already sensitive skin by shaving every day – these are just a few of the problems that arise during intimate depilation or shaving and epilating.

Many women are forced to go through this daily struggle alone and do not have the confidence to seek professional help. According to a study published by the Society for Consumer Research in 2014, almost every second woman depilates her intimate area among other body parts.

With laser hair removal, Laser ONE Institute offers you the opportunity to finally get rid of annoying hair in the intimate area permanently.

Whether it’s the edges of your bikini, the crease of your bottom or depilation of the entire intimate area – our trained specialists will be happy to advise you on the subject and carry out the treatment discreetly and professionally. Your well-being is just as important to us as the hair-free end result.

Questions & Answers

How long does a laser hair removal treatment take?

The duration of a session depends on the size and number of body areas to be treated and, in some cases, on the treatment device (laser type) itself. A treatment of the armpits with the diode laser or alexandrite laser only takes about 15 minutes. Depending on the circumference of your legs, you will need to plan around 30-40 minutes for treatment of the legs. A popular treatment for women – the removal of the so-called lady’s beard can be completed in 10-15 minutes. If you opt for hair removal of the whole body, the treatment can take a little longer and take 2 to 4 hours.

Due to the specific and individual characteristics of each person’ s body, the question is not easy to answer. However, experience over many years has shown that for the majority of people at least 8 treatments are usually necessary for a successful result, but sometimes it can be more. At the same time, there are cases where the customer is completely satisfied with the results after just 6 or 7 treatments because the hair has become significantly less or has been thinned out by the laser treatments and therefore stops having treatments for the time being. However, we always recommend at least 8 treatments to our customers and also communicate clearly and transparently during the consultation that it can sometimes be more.

Important to understand: The laser can only successfully treat hair that is in the anagen phase or active growth phase. During a session, this is usually around 15 to 25 percent of all hair. After about 5 to 8 weeks, another part of the hair roots becomes active and can now be treated. For this reason, it takes several treatments at the right intervals to hit the majority of hairs in their growth phase and permanently destroy up to 85% of the roots. In addition to the anagen phase, there is also the catagen phase (transition phase) and the telogen phase (resting phase), which precisely determine the life cycle of a hair, see illustration.

Laser hair removal growth phases

The diode lasers we use from Alma Lasers have the innovative “ICE Technology” cooling system (a contact cooling technique in which the laser head is cooled down to minus 16 degrees Celsius) and thus ensure a pleasant cooling sensation on the skin area to be treated, so that you can experience the treatment as painlessly and comfortably as possible. Our alexandrite lasers and Nd:YAG lasers “GentleLase Pro” and “GentleMax Pro Plus” from the renowned manufacturer Candela, as well as the “Clarity II” laser from Lutronic, also have a state-of-the-art cooling system with cryogen cooling (nitrogen), in which the skin is cooled before and during each individual laser pulse by means of a spray function. If you have any concerns, we always give at least one test shot on your skin before starting a treatment so that you can get an impression of how it feels and we can better assess the reaction of your skin.

No, after the laser hair removal treatment it takes about 1-3 weeks for the hair to fall out. You will often notice that the affected hair falls out even with a light touch or a slight tug. However, despite the hair loss, it is not the case that all hair is gone immediately and for good. Permanent laser hair removal is a process that requires at least 8 sessions for a successful result.

The hairs that were in the telogen phase (resting phase) or not vulnerable to the laser beam during the treatment grow back within 5-8 weeks, then the next treatment takes place in order to be able to successfully remove them in the vulnerable anagen phase (active growth phase). In order to destroy up to 85% of the hair roots, you usually need at least 8 treatments and a little patience.

The laser hair removal procedure has proven to be very effective. The laser device sends the laser beam into the hair roots at a special wavelength suitable for the patient, measured in nanometers (755 nm / 810 nm / 1064 nm). The light impulses penetrate the upper layer of the skin and are transported to the hair root via the melanin (dye) of the hair; the heat generated permanently destroys the hair roots. The affected hair root is no longer able to produce new hair. As a rule, up to approx. 85% of the hair can be removed. However, in individual cases, approx. 10-20% of the removed hair can grow back after 1-2 years. We therefore recommend 1 to 2 prophylactic treatments per year in order to remain permanently hair-free.

The laser hair removal procedure has proven to be very effective. The laser device emits a laser beam at a specific wavelength, measured in nanometers (755 nm / 810 nm / 1064 nm) into the hair roots. The light pulses penetrate the epidermis (upper skin layer) and are transported to the hair root via the hair’s melanin. The resulting heat permanently destroys the hair roots. The affected hair root is no longer able to produce new hair.

During the treatment, the skin is cooled either by direct contact cooling or by spray cooling with cryogen (nitrogen) from the laser device used in order to make the treatment as comfortable and painless as possible for the patient.

Bauch Vorher Nachher

At Laser ONE Institut, all skin and hair types can be treated effectively and safely, even very dark or completely black skin types. We are one of the few providers in Berlin that actually has the appropriate equipment and a wide range of laser devices to successfully treat all skin and hair types. With the alexandrite laser (wavelength of 755 nm), you can have both lighter and darker hairs removed from light northern European skin types. The diode laser (wavelength of 810 nm) guarantees effective hair removal for lighter to medium-darker southern European skin types with slightly thicker darker hairs. And our Nd:YAG laser (wavelength of 1064 nm) is perfect for dark, tanned and black skin types.

Laser hair removal skin types

In order to select the right device for laser hair removal, the patient’s exact skin type must be determined using the Fitzpatrick skin chart. In 1975, Thomas B. Fitzpatrick, MD, at Harvard Medical School developed a classification system for determining skin type. This system is based on a person’s skin reaction to sunlight or ultraviolet light (UV light) in terms of the degree of burning and tanning and is still used today.

Laser hair removal skin types

Alexandrite lasers are best suited for skin types I-III with a wavelength of 755 nm (nanometers). Diode lasers with a wavelength of 810 nm are best suited for skin types II-IV. And Nd: YAG lasers with a wavelength of 1064 nm are mainly used for skin types IV-VI.

Nd:YAG lasers were specially developed for patients with very dark and black skin, as they have a higher penetration depth due to their wavelength and do not have a negative effect on the dark pigment of the skin surface. This is the only type of laser that should be used for skin types V and VI. The use of other laser types on these skin types can lead to severe burns on the treated skin! It is therefore important to use a real Nd:YAG laser with a neodymium crystal as the energy source or a YAG handpiece with a fixed wavelength of 1064 nanometers and not a device that combines several wavelengths.

Definitely No. The provider who promises you a hair-free miracle after just one or two sessions – is dubious, incompetent and even fraudulent. Promises of this kind often lead to customers being dissatisfied with their laser hair removal due to misinformation, because they expected the end result too soon and did not expect several sessions. We will tell you frankly and realistically: permanent hair removal usually requires at least 8 treatments, sometimes more. Every hair has a life cycle that is divided into three life phases.

  • Anagen phase (growth phase) – is the phase in which the hair actively grows.
  • Catagen phase (transition phase) – is the phase in which hair growth stops and the hair follicle is in regression.
  • Telogen phase (resting phase) – is the last phase of hair growth. During this phase, the hair falls out. A new hair forms in the place of a dead hair and the whole cycle repeats itself.

Permanent hair removal can only ever be carried out in the anagen phase, because only then is the hair root, i.e. the entire hair supply system, vulnerable to the laser beam. In most cases, a maximum of 15 to 25% of the hair in the body is in this treatable anagen phase. Depending on the area of the body, it can take 4 to 12 weeks for the hair to return to this phase. For this reason, at least 8 sessions at intervals of around 5 to 8 weeks are necessary for a good result.

Treatment should not be carried out or should be repeated at a later date if you have been in a solarium or have to take light-sensitizing medication.

For the vast majority of people, the answer is clearly yes! At Laser ONE we can treat women, men, transgender people of all ethnicities, skin types and almost all ages. Laser energies are attracted to melanin (the so-called hair pigment that gives hair its color). So if you have white hair, very light blonde or red hair, this hair may not be treatable or may not be treatable effectively. It is therefore advisable to arrange a free consultation before your treatment appointment to determine whether your hair is treatable. We will be happy to take a hair sample from you and take a closer look at the hair roots and tell you honestly whether the hair is treatable and whether we can advise you to undergo treatment.

Taking a hair sample is not painful. A hair root is simply pulled out from the area to be treated with tweezers and examined by our specialist staff under a magnifying glass with multiple magnification. It is important to understand that hair roots and hair can differ in color and structure, so a conscientious provider should not only look at the hair superficially, but also under the surface of the skin. In order for a hair sample to be taken at all, please come to the consultation appointment unshaven and do not remove the hair roots using hair removal methods such as waxing, sugaring or plucking.

Laser hair removal advice

At Laser ONE Institut, all areas of the body can be treated, for both men and women. The skin-friendly procedure is equally suitable for treatments on the legs, back, arms, face and intimate areas. Hard-to-reach areas or rather small treatment areas (e.g. upper lip, ears, nose) can be treated just as well and effectively thanks to various laser attachments and spot sizes.

Of course: Yes. Annoying facial hair can be removed from women (beard) and men. Overgrown eyebrows, unwanted cheek, beard and ear hair can be easily and permanently removed with the devices we use.

Important: As excessive facial hair in women (chin, upper lip etc.) is often caused by hormonal disorders or an excess of male hormones, the results can vary greatly.

The cost of laser hair removal treatment depends on the body area to be treated, the size of the body area to be treated and the laser device used for the treatment (diode laser, alexandrite laser or YAG laser). The larger the body area to be treated, the more time-consuming the treatment and the greater the use of consumables. The price is correspondingly higher. The cost of a treatment of the upper lip or chin is between 45 and 55 euros, depending on the type of laser used, while a treatment of the entire legs costs between 219 and 279 euros. If you want to remove unwanted hair from your entire body, the price is 549 euros with a diode laser and 699 euros with an alexandrite laser or YAG laser. For the treatment of 2 or more selected body zones, you will receive attractive multi-zone discounts of up to 20%. You can find more information on the costs of permanent laser hair removal in our price list.

This is partly due to the cost of the appliances themselves, but also to the cost of materials. While a diode laser costs around €50 ,000€70,000, the price of an alexandrite or YAG laser is significantly higher at up to €100,000. While the diode laser works with internal cooling, which does not incur any additional costs, the alexandrite laser and YAG lasers use cryogen (nitrogen) bottles as an external coolant, which are very expensive and are quickly used up. A bottle of cryogen costs around 80 euros. In addition, interchangeable spot attachments and protective lenses made of hardened sapphire glass are required for the treatment at a cost of around 15 euros each.

Another reason is that treatment with the alexandrite and YAG laser is generally more time-consuming (especially for larger body areas), as these lasers can treat a much smaller area per laser shot than a diode laser. In addition, the significantly more complex technology requires more time-consuming cleaning and care of the devices after each treatment. The frequent replacement of wearing parts (spot attachments, protective lenses, etc.) also contributes to the price difference.

It is quite possible that the intake of certain nutritional supplements could have an influence on the effectiveness of laser hair removal treatments. Vitamin D and proteins in particular play a central role in the hair growth process. These nutrients are essential for the formation of new hair follicles and can theoretically help to promote hair growth. Increased intake of these nutrients could therefore potentially affect the rate or extent of hair growth, which in turn could affect the results of laser hair removal treatment.

However, it is important to emphasize that the response to such nutrients varies from person to person. Not everyone will experience a noticeable impact on treatment results from taking supplements. This is because the human body and its responses are highly individualized. Some people could potentially notice a change in the effectiveness of laser hair removal, while others may not notice any difference.

If you have any concerns or questions about the interaction between your diet, taking supplements and laser hair removal, we will of course be happy to help. We encourage you to address such questions openly so that together we can develop the optimal strategies for your treatment and care.

The devices we use: Soprano ICE, Soprano Platinum, Soprano Titanium from Alma Lasers, GentleLase Pro, GentleMax Pro Plus from Candela, and Clarity II from Lutronic are considered the gold standard among laser systems for permanent hair removal worldwide.

The German-Israeli manufacturer Alma Lasers is one of the best-known producers of the most effective laser devices at the highest medical level. Proven by numerous clinical studies and repeatedly crowned as one of the best diode laser technologies (“Best Laser Device for Hair Removal” at the “Aesthetic Industry Awards” and “Most Innovative Laser Treatment” at the “MyFaceMyBody Awards”) – Soprano ICE is absolutely safe and effective. The world-renowned company Candela has also proven itself as a market leader in the field of medical hair removal systems and offers with its devices: GentleLase Pro and GentleMax Pro Plus, the most technologically advanced, effective and safe alexandrite and YAG lasers in the world.

No, there is no risk to your health. The laser hair removal devices we use are subject to the strictest safety guidelines and naturally have CE approval for Europe and FDA approval for the USA and are subjected to a safety check (STK) at least once a year.

We do not use cheap devices from Asian countries and stand for 100% quality and 100% safety. Of course, laser hair removal can only be carried out risk-free if all contraindications are excluded (see list of contraindications) and treatment is carried out by qualified specialists.

In addition to the absolute contraindications, the following points must be observed for safe treatment:

  • You must not get sunburnt.
  • All skin areas with moles, liver spots, tattoos or permanent make-up must be generously excluded or covered with a white pencil or plaster (this is done by our specialist staff before the treatment).

If you are not sure, please take advantage of our free consultation before treatment.

At our institute in Berlin, both men and women can have the annoying hair in their genital area lasered away. Hair removal in the bikini area is carried out in exactly the same way as in other areas of the body. Important: The hair in the area to be treated must be shaved 1-2 days beforehand so that it is approx. 1 mm long at the time of treatment. The laser best recognizes the hair of the appropriate length and directs the beam precisely into the hair root, so that the maximum successful results can be achieved.

After a laser hair removal treatment at Laser ONE Institut in Berlin, the skin should not be exposed to strong and direct sunlight or the artificial light of solariums for approx. 14 days in order to avoid possible side effects. If the skin is nevertheless exposed to strong sunlight and not protected with a sun protection cream with at least sun protection factor 50, hyperpigmentation (increased pigmentation) or hypopigmentation (reduced pigmentation) may occur on the treated skin area in some cases.

In addition, visits to the sauna, steam bath, hot showers and baths should be avoided for 48 hours after the treatment in order to prevent heat spots and unwanted skin reactions.

The advantage of laser hair removal is clearly its efficiency and durability. Unlike sugaring, waxing or IPL (flash lamp), the hair usually does not come back after laser hair removal therapy. Another advantage is that laser hair removal is much gentler on your skin. Unlike the methods mentioned above, the well-known and sometimes very painful side effects of laser hair removal, such as ingrown hairs or folliculitis (inflamed hair follicles), only occur in extremely rare cases.

For a successful hair-free result, at least 8 sessions are usually required at the right intervals. As the hair roots can partially rebuild in approx. 10 to 20% of the hairs removed, we recommend having a prophylactic treatment carried out by us every six months in order to remain permanently hair-free.

The IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Devices, also known as “flash lamps”, work with a broad, less concentrated light spectrum (420 to 1200 nanometers). Real laser hair removal devices, on the other hand, work with fixed wavelengths, which means they can be better adapted to specific skin types and are therefore safer and cause less burning on the treated area. The diode laser, for example, works with a selectable wavelength of 755 nm, 810 nm or 1064 nm. Pure alexandrite lasers with an alexandrite crystal as the energy source operate exclusively at a wavelength of 755 nm. And the YAG laser, which is mainly used for dark to black skin types, works with a deeper penetrating wavelength of 1064 nm.

Now, what exactly does that mean? During laser treatment, the laser beam can penetrate the hair follicle in a much more focused way and thus permanently destroy the hair roots. The light from IPL devices can never reach the hair in such a targeted manner, as it is more widely spread and less focused. With IPL hair removal, the energy is not only delivered to the relevant hair follicle, but also unnecessarily to the surrounding skin – as a result, the treatment takes longer and is less efficient. It also increases the risk of burns. No less important is the price of the hair removal system. While a compact tabletop IPL device can be purchased for as little as 1,000 euros on the Internet, a good laser device costs from 55,000 euros up to 100,000 euros.

The home hair removal devices often advertised in TV commercials and on the internet are only allowed to use a limited amount of energy due to legal safety regulations. In comparison with professional laser hair removal systems, they have a much lower energy potential and can, in the best case, cause the hair to fall out, but cannot permanently destroy the hair root. The light pulse produced is far too weak to specifically destroy the hair roots and is only sufficient to temporarily weaken the affected hair. In other words, treatment with the home device must be repeated very frequently and regularly, as the hair follicle can regenerate relatively quickly and produce new hair. Unfortunately, permanent hair removal with home devices is therefore not possible.

The situation is different with professional and medical laser hair removal systems: They have a much higher energy level that can effectively and permanently destroy the hair roots, offer wavelengths that can be individually adapted to different skin types and are of course not available over the counter. Furthermore, laser devices in this class may only be used by trained specialists with the appropriate NiSV training.

Laser hair removal treatment can be carried out without any problems from the age of 17. As a rule, there is no upper age limit. In rare cases, laser hair removal can also be carried out at the age of 16 with the consent of parents or legal guardians.

Treatment under the age of 16 is only possible in absolutely exceptional cases. For example, if the person concerned suffers from psychological or health problems for various reasons to such an extent that a doctor considers or even recommends hair removal treatment as a solution to the problem. In such a case, however, a written medical certificate from the attending physician is required before treatment can be carried out at Laser ONE Institut.

However, it is important to realize that the results in the early teenage years can only be very temporary, as hormones change so quickly in young people, especially young women, that hair growth can even increase or be stimulated. It is also highly likely that more treatments than usual will be required, resulting in higher costs for the person concerned. Once the hormones have regulated (this usually happens between the ages of 17 and 19), the treatments are much more effective and long-lasting. We therefore recommend not starting permanent hair removal treatments until after puberty, as hormonal changes during this time can influence and stimulate hair growth. If you would like to find out more about this topic, we recommend our article At what age can I have my hair removed with a laser?

The costs for permanent laser hair removal are generally only covered by health insurance companies in rare cases, as the removal of unwanted hair (especially body hair) is usually only a purely cosmetic matter in which the person concerned simply feels bothered by their own hair. However, this is by no means a sufficient reason for the health insurance company to cover the costs. However, there are cases in which the health insurance company can and possibly will cover the costs of hair removal treatment. These include, for example, transsexualism and hirsutism (excessive hair growth), as well as certain hormonal disorders that should be treated by a doctor at the same time.

Please note that not all health insurance companies will cover the costs if the treatment was carried out by a cosmetic service provider. In some cases, the costs will only be covered if the treatment was carried out at a medical practice. As we are a cosmetic service provider and not a medical facility, it is therefore best to check with your health insurance provider beforehand whether they will cover the costs of laser hair removal treatment at Laser ONE Institut at all.

Important: As we are currently neither in exchange nor in cooperation with a health insurance company, billing is not between us and the health insurance company (as is usually the case when health insurance companies cover the costs), but between us and you. This means that you pay for the service you have received from us in full (either by cash, EC card or credit card) after each treatment and then submit an invoice, which we will be happy to prepare for you, to your health insurance company. Reimbursement should then be made directly to your account.

Would you like to give your friends and loved ones the gift of a treatment with us? Of course this is possible and of course you can also give the gift of beauty. We can provide you with beautifully designed vouchers in visually appealing packaging. Are you interested? Then simply send us a short e-mail to info@laserone.de

You can obtain the vouchers from us in 3 ways:

  • Directly on site with us

Permanent laser hair removal increases the risk of skin cancer

Cancer is mainly caused by wavelengths in the ultraviolet range, i.e. in the 320 to 400 nanometer range, but a laser does not spread such wavelengths. The laser works in a much higher wavelength spectrum(755 to 1064 nm), which is medically approved and is considered absolutely risk-free. Really dangerous rays can be obtained with strong sun exposure or in a tanning salon, which is why excessive sunbathing or regular visits to a solarium can actually increase the risk of skin cancer. Laser hair removal poses no risk in this respect.
Myth 1

All lasers are the same and treatment prices are only inflated by the provider

Hardly any claim could be less true. A wide variety of laser manufacturers offer their devices on the medical and cosmetics market. You can buy a laser device made in China that will cost less than 2,000 euros, but which will at best burn your skin and leave your hair still there. A well-functioning, safe and effective device is a complex medical system in which both the software (the entire programming, individual setting options for all parameters, etc.) and the hardware (the body of the device and above all the laser handpiece itself, hoses and electrics) must meet the highest technical safety requirements.

In principle, the same applies as for car models: You can buy a “Ferrari” or a “Chery QQ3”. Well, you will reach your destination much faster and more safely with a Ferrari than with a little-known and faulty brand. At Laser ONE, quality comes first: We want to achieve your desired result as quickly as possible, while taking no risks for your skin and being as painless as possible to you. That’s why we only work with the most effective and safest devices on the market: Soprano ICE, Soprano Platinum and Soprano Titanium diode lasers from Alma Lasers and GentleLase Pro and GentleMax Pro Plus alexandrite lasers from Candela, as well as Clarity II from Lutronic.

Myth 2

Myth 3

The laser beam can affect the internal organs and damage their health

Absolutely wrong. During treatment, the laser beams only penetrate the epidermis (upper layer of skin). They therefore only affect the hair roots or the hair production site, spread out there and do not penetrate into deeper layers of the skin. Neither organs nor veins and internal blood vessels can be affected. After the treatment, slight redness or itching may occur, but this will disappear within a short time – this is a normal and healthy skin reaction to laser hair removal.

Myth 4

Only the darker hairs on the lighter skin can be removed

Partly true. The older generations of laser hair removal devices used to only be able to detect the darker hairs on light skin and therefore it was not possible to treat lighter hairs. Not anymore! The latest laser devices are now able to treat blonde hair almost as successfully as dark hair – it all depends on the technical parameters and the state of the art of the laser.

At Laser ONE Institut we also work with a pure alexandrite laser with a wavelength of 755 nm, which has been specially developed for lighter hair and can even detect a small amount of melanin in lighter hair. The most important prerequisite for being able to destroy lighter hair is a short duration of the laser pulse and at the same time a higher energy of the laser beam. Only very few laser models have these properties and can effectively remove light-colored hair.

However, you still need to be aware of this: In order to achieve comparable results to dark hair, clients with light hair will generally require more treatments. The removal of absolutely white or grey hair is not possible, as these hairs have no color pigments at all and therefore offer no “target” for the laser beam.

Myth 5

1-2 treatments are sufficient to remove all hairs

That would be nice, but unfortunately it’s not true. After two treatments, an average of 15-20% of the hair roots are destroyed. Although the skin feels much smoother and less stubbly, it is still far from hair-free. At least 8 sessions are usually necessary for an almost hair-free result.

The reason for this is that the hair on the entire body grows cyclically in three phases and the laser beam can only successfully destroy the hair roots when the hair is in the so-called anagen phase (growth phase). As only approx. 15-25% of body hair is in this phase at the time of treatment and the other 80% is in the so-called resting phase, at least 8 sessions at intervals of approx. 5 to 8 weeks are usually necessary to hit all hairs in their anagen phase and successfully destroy the hair follicles.

Laser ONE expressly warns you against providers who promise you a completely hair-free result after just 1-2 sessions! Unfortunately, this is never possible and only serves to attract the customer and later allegedly sell three times as many sessions due to their “hair and skin condition”.

Myth 6

Laser hair removal is extremely painful and not everyone can stand it

This only depends on which institute or doctor you are being treated at and, above all, which technology is used for laser hair removal. At Laser ONE Institut, every laser device has the most innovative cooling system with ICE Technology (the laser head is cooled down to minus 16 degrees Celsius) and ensures a pleasant cooling sensation on the skin area to be treated, so that you can experience the treatment as painlessly and pleasantly as possible. It is important to note that the more effective the laser device is, the stronger the laser beam and the associated heat that hits the skin. If the laser device does not have an integrated cooling system, which is unfortunately often the case with almost every inexpensive device, the treatment can be quite painful. The biggest revolution in laser epilation was the SHR technology of the Soprano ICE device, which was introduced to the market 5 years ago by Alma Lasers. The device had the greatest power of all laser devices and at the same time had a very efficient cooling system with the so-called ICE technology. The SHR (Soft Hair Removal) and ICE technology is the biggest revolution in permanent hair removal to date and is the most important discovery for future generations of lasers.

Myth 7

The laser causes burns and traumatizes the skin surface

This is a question of quality and the associated costs invested in the laser systems used. If the institute works with untested, cheaper devices from Asia or Eastern Europe, this can unfortunately often lead to burns on the surface of the skin.

At Laser ONE, quality and safety are our top priorities. The devices we use from Alma Lasers (manufactured in Germany and Israel) and Candela (USA) are absolutely safe and naturally have the necessary approvals for Europe(CE) and the USA(FDA). Furthermore, all our laser devices undergo an expensive safety inspection (STK) at least once a year. Permanent hair removal at Laser ONE in Berlin is therefore not only effective, but also 100% safe. Thanks to the state-of-the-art technology of our laser devices, serious skin irritation, burns, inflammation or scarring are virtually impossible.
