With laser hair removal, there are a few clear situations in which we are not allowed to treat, as well as some cases in which we need to take a closer look beforehand. If you have been to a tanning salon shortly before or are taking light-sensitizing medication, the appointment should always be postponed.
Absolute contraindications:
Treatment is not possible here, as there would be a health risk:
- Diabetes type 1 and type 2
- Acute skin diseases
- Skin cancer
- Cancer in the active phase (including chemotherapy)
- Pacemaker
- Diseases of the immune system
- Taking St. John’s wort
- Photosensitizing drugs
- Pregnancy
Relative contraindications:
Here, treatment can still take place under certain conditions – but only after detailed consultation and clarification:
- Antibiotics (treatment no earlier than 7 days after the last dose)
- Epilepsy
- Hirsutism
- Hormonal disorders
- Hypothyroidism
- Hyperthyroidism
- Varicose veins
- Vitamin D therapy
